Olive Eggers are an exciting breed of chickens that typically lay various shades of olive colored eggs. They are created by crossing a dark brown egg layer with a blue egg layer. I have set up two different breeding programs to offer a variety of chicks! Our Olive Eggers were created by crossing some of our foundation stock of Cream Legbars, Silverudd Blues, Black Copper Marans, Welsummers, and Blue Ameraucanas.
Our Olive Eggers include both F1 and F2 chicks. The F1 hybrid will produce offspring that will always lay an olive colored egg. Typically these eggs will be a lighter shade of olive.
The F2 hybrid will produce offspring have a 50/50 chance to produce either olive or a dark brown color. We loose the 100% Olive guarantee once we cross for the 2nd time in hopes of getting that really deep olive color we all want like show in main photo above. Aren't genetics so much fun??
You will be delighted by the varied color patterns of these chicks and their beautiful and plentiful eggs. Olive Eggers will lay around 180 to 200 eggs per year.
